One of the most exciting trends in this field is digital humanities. Digital humanities are the study of how people communicate complex ideas and concepts to a broad audience. They are a hot topic of research and a lot of fun. Often, the goal is to engage large audiences in a way that a traditional lecture or talk might fail to achieve.
The best example of this is the IRIS Center’s fall Digital Humanities Student Showcase. This isn’t a traditional symphony or chamber music concert, but a multi-media event that features students using digital tools to create an interactive experience for a broad range of audiences.
As a bonus, one of the award-winning entries also wowed attendees with an interactive video game. To learn more, visit the IRIS Center website.
Other notable achievements include winning the prestigious Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for nine consecutive years. Furthermore, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville received a bespoke collection of historical research.
