Current News talks about the latest happenings, events and developments that are currently shaping thoughts and sentiments of a population. Keeping up with current events is crucial in interpreting public opinion data, as shifts can be caused by a variety of reasons and reflect changing social dynamics and priorities within society. Furthermore, media outlets have the ability to influence how current events are perceived by highlighting certain aspects of an event and downplaying others. This illustrates how news coverage can affect public perception of particular policies and political leaders.

For example, the popular Australian TV show A Current Affair often covers local community issues such as hoons and dodgy tradies. It also features stories about local legends. Its format is similar to that of Today Tonight.
