What is Current News? What does it entail? What can you expect to see on a current-newscast? It depends on what you’re looking for. In general, you’ll see news stories related to breaking news and the latest events in the world. You may also hear the terms “breaking news” and “late-breaking news” interchangeably. Breaking news refers to the latest story of the day, and is used to describe a story of wide interest to viewers. However, sometimes breaking news means a story that has already been reported on by a news organization. If the story is already on another network, it may be referred to as “just in time.”
Among the latest news items, the Australian children’s show “Bluey” has been viewed over 100 million times in the UK. Kentucky has experienced historic flooding that has left 16 dead and destroyed hundreds of homes. Turkey is facing a fire investigation, and a Ukrainian family settles in Scotland. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s annual inflation is 250%, a record high that authorities are blaming on the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as high prices worldwide.
Recently, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions announced that it awarded $500 scholarships to graduate students who are conducting research and creating original work. In other news, the CAS College of Arts and Sciences announced that it was launching an online course in digital media literacy that can be completed in one summer. While it’s not quite as big as COVID-19, the publication of this course coincides with a Russian invasion of Ukraine, so it’s an exciting opportunity to study the subject and become an advocate of change.
