Current News consists of live, breaking stories that happen at the most relevant moment in the world. The term “breaking news” may also refer to a live, unscripted story that is of general interest to viewers. This term is sometimes used in place of “just in,” which means “today.”
Local stations may get the opportunity to break away from the network feed when it begins its evening newscasts. They are given a cue from the network’s talent, which triggers a pause for the coverage. Once they have paused for the coverage to reset, the opening graphic is rolled again. The information is disseminated through an internal alert service, and the local stations will likely join on an “extended edition” of the network’s coverage.
Major networks have high hopes for streaming but are wary of overhyping the benefits. CNN, for example, invested hundreds of millions of dollars in its streaming service, but it has not had the same success. NBC News Now, which produces 10 hours of live news each day, claims that it has over 31 million video views monthly. And Fox, which already has a network of cable news channels, has been streaming breaking news marathons. While the network is hesitant to advertise on CNN+, it is betting big on the streaming market.
Recent updates include the election results for new members of the Sammamish City Council, the announcement of the newest city councilmember, Rituja Indapure, and the recognition of Mayor Kali Clark and the professional women’s soccer team. Meanwhile, lifeguards will be back at Pine Lake Park, but only for a limited period of time due to a lack of staff. This is a major milestone for our city as a whole.
