About Trending
Breaking news is a television or radio segment that interrupts regular programming to report an urgent development. It is often referred to as Newsflash or Special report. It is most common during major national news events, such as the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, that warrant nationwide coverage and require multiple stations to interrupt their programs. In the past, breaking news reports were mainly used for severe weather conditions that required immediate alerts to be issued by local or regional broadcasters. Today, 24-hour news networks typically have an anchor live at the studio ready to interrupt any non-news program with breaking news at any time.
