Earlier this month, the Central Intelligence Agency unveiled a statue of Underground Railroad hero Harriet Tubman at its Virginia headquarters. She joins three other sculptures at agency headquarters – all of them white men. In addition to her time as a “conductor” for the Underground Railroad, Tubman also served as a spy for the Union Army in the Civil War. The statue is part of a series of events marking the CIA’s 75th anniversary.

These databases can be searched with your Bentley credentials, or you can conduct a Google search for specific publications. The Library has a variety of print publications available for patrons to check out.
There are also several mobile applications that can provide you with the latest news in your area. For example, NewsBreak lets you follow the latest breaking news, including sports, national headlines, and local weather. It is free, and it allows you to connect with your neighbors. This makes it the number one local news app in the U.S.
Another good source for current news is Newspaper Source Plus. This resource contains millions of articles from major news sources. It also includes television and radio transcripts. It also offers daily updates from some of the most popular news sources. This includes cover-to-cover full text for major newspapers, selected full text for hundreds of regional newspapers, AP Online (Associated Press), and a variety of other news sources.
In the news this week, SIUE hosted its Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run. The event took place on Sept. 24 and featured alumni and friends from past years. For example, Laila Landreth, a business administration graduate from Copenhagen, Denmark, participated in the event virtually for the past two years.
