Current news is a form of public information. This type of information is available in many different forms, and consists of various events and situations. Some news is called “hard news,” while others are considered soft news. This type of information can have different effects on readers depending on how it is presented. The purpose of current news is to keep the public informed about the current events in the world.
Newsrooms are using social media platforms to perform their news gathering. This shift in news consumption habits is changing consumer behavior. Pew Research conducted a survey about the way Americans consume news. In the twentieth century, the United Press International (UMPI) was considered a world news agency. But it declined in the 1980s and was sold at a low price. Today, it is owned by the Unification Church’s News World Communications.
The SIUE campus has celebrated its annual Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run on Sept. 24. For the past two years, SIUE alum Laila Landreth has participated in the event. She’s a business administration graduate from Copenhagen, Denmark, and is a member of SIUE’s Alumni Hall of Fame. The university also recently set new enrollment records. Fall enrollment is at a 44-year-high and international enrollment increased by 67% over the previous year.
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Engineering has won the Rising Star Award at the ASHRAE 2022 Design Competition. The school placed fourth internationally in the applied engineering challenge.
