Streaming news is transforming the way news is delivered. The technology allows the viewer to customize the experience to their own preferences. It also allows for the timely delivery of news. The major networks have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in streaming operations.

Streaming news has attracted a mass audience, with many viewers spending more time watching it than they do watching conventional television. It’s also proved to be a great way to reach niche audiences.

Streaming news is not limited by cable companies, who can limit the amount of content they offer. For example, Fox Nation has attracted 1.5 million subscribers to its streaming app. This has provided Fox with a chance to experiment with the news formula.

Streaming news is also reducing the scarcity of media. As long as there is demand, news will arrive on a viewer’s computer. This reduces the cost of building a news library. The low barriers to entry encourage new players to enter.

Streaming news has proven to be a good business. In 2020, the major news networks combined to earn a profit of $3 billion. These numbers will only continue to rise.

In the future, online video streaming will likely change how political news is covered. It will also attract new overtly political news operations. These will probably be able to attract audiences who are commercially averse. This could mean that TV news will be free of costly negotiations with cable companies.
