Current News

Trending is a news segment on television and radio shows that talks about topics currently trending. It usually features an image or graphic that is animated and accompanied by a distinctive music cue. The segment also often consists of an analysis about the topic at hand, and may include commentary from guests or experts. This type of report is commonly seen on 24-hour news channels, which have anchors available to interrupt programming at any time for live breaking news coverage. Prior to the advent of such networks, such interruptions were reserved for extremely urgent events, such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, or severe weather events.
