Whether you’re an avid reader or simply don’t have the time to follow a news website, Current News can be a helpful resource. Current News includes a wide variety of news stories from around the world and is updated frequently. This guide will show you how to find and read articles in the Bentley Library’s online and print publications. Using the “Archive News” tab will allow you to view news going back two years.

Breaking news can interrupt primetime programming, especially new shows and highly-rated programs. Sometimes the network will cut away from their programming for a few seconds while the local station pauses to re-roll their graphics. The news source may also pass the coverage to a reporter at the scene of the breaking story, who will continue to share more information as it happens. This is a common method of interruption. While this may seem intrusive, it’s a necessary part of the television-viewer’s experience.

While many news stories are brief, some last several hours. The longest news events can span days, such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Or, more recently, the September 11 attacks. In addition to broadcasting the news, networks may also integrate analysis into their coverage, and analysts may be located at different locations. Broadband may also be used in this case, and regular commercials may be interrupted during long news events.
