Current News talks about the stories that are breaking and in the news right now.
Breaking news is the term used to describe events in the world that are so significant or urgent that they warrant a live interruption of normal programming, such as for weather or terrorism-related events. These types of events may be covered in full or accompanied by special reports which focus on the event at hand. When a breaking story occurs, the network will usually interrupt its regular programing with a special graphic and distinctive music cues, telling viewers to stand by for an immediate interruption. In the past, such breaks would only occur during severe weather events which required national coverage and caused multiple stations to interrupt their programming. In recent years, networks have started to use “Newsflash” or “Special report” tickers during regularly scheduled newscasts, thereby lessening the need for cut-ins.
