A journalist who covers a specific topic or area of interest on a regular basis. They have in-depth knowledge and connections that enable them to deliver more insightful and impactful coverage. Journalists typically have a beat like politics, sports or crime that they cover daily.
An introductory paragraph that explains the five Ws of a news story (who, what, where, when and why). It is usually found just below the headline and gives context to the article. Also known as a lede or deck.
