What are the terms and definitions of Current News? Breaking news, late breaking news, special coverage, news flash, and “breaking news event” are all used to describe the most significant story of the moment or the newest story. It may also refer to a news event that is of wide interest to viewers and is still under development, or it may be a story that has been previously reported by another news organization. In television news, the term breaking news is sometimes replaced with “Just In.”
In the U.S., current news is comprised of news that has been published within the past year. News articles can be sorted using bolded column headings. In addition, there is a separate tab titled “Archived News” where news from two years ago can be found. There are many ways to view current news on a local level, and you can use a variety of other tools to find articles about a specific topic or event.
While current news may be produced from multiple sources, local coverage often comes first. A local news outlet may choose to have an anchor continue to report live, while a network may cut to video. A reporter on the scene can also pass along the coverage, sharing additional information as it breaks. Generally, Current News is comprised of two types of content: satire and traditional news. For example, satire and news about current events often feature a variety of formats, such as university reviews.
