The cable TV news industry has been a lucrative business for decades. However, the advent of streaming has changed the game. Streaming allows viewers to view content anywhere. They can even receive notifications through email and text.
Major news networks have entered the streaming market, and they have high hopes for it. News organizations invested hundreds of millions of dollars into the venture. But critics have criticized them for not meeting demand when they first came into the business.
Critics also pointed out that they missed the rapid adoption of cable. In 2020, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, and CNN earned a combined profit of $3 billion.
