If you want to know more about current events, you can visit the Current News section in the Bentley Library. This section includes news items published in the last year. To sort the articles, click the bolded column headings. To access previous news items, click the “Archived News” tab. In the Bentley Library, current news is available in print form as well. During prime time, current events often interrupt primetime television programs. This can interrupt highly rated programs or new shows that have not yet aired. The April 2017 Shayrat missile attack on the US, for example, interrupted an episode of Scandal. If the news event is long, networks will incorporate analysis of the story. They may have analysts in studio or by phone, or they may suspend regular commercial advertising until the news has been concluded.
In Australia, an award-winning children’s TV show called Bluey has been streamed 100 million times in the UK. In Kentucky, historic flooding has killed 16 people and destroyed many homes. A blaze in Turkey has prosecutors investigating the cause of the fire. In Zimbabwe, annual inflation has risen 250%, blamed on the effects of a coronavirus pandemic and high global prices. The UN says five million people need food urgently.
