One of the hottest topics in the media today is news streaming. It’s set to revolutionize the way political coverage is aired.

News networks are chasing the streaming audience. They’ve invested hundreds of millions of dollars in their streaming operations.

Streaming allows viewers to customize their experience. Streaming also enables a network to archive content and make it available on demand. This means viewers can view it at any time. In addition, streaming helps to cut down on the media equation.

When you think about it, streaming news isn’t that different from the TV news broadcasts we’ve seen for decades. Cable networks took broadcast news and one-upped it with live events.

But the major news networks have high hopes for streaming. For the past ten years, these networks have been in the business of repurposing cable programming for new audiences. Often, they offer a mixture of documentaries, news analysis, and breaking news.

Some of these services are free, but others are promoting cable-quality news. A few of them are even aiming to take a share of the lucrative profits that come with these streams.

Fox News Channel has attracted 1.5 million subscribers to its Fox Nation streaming app. CBS News has been aggressively building out its local streaming news strategy. The network plans to beam 45,000 hours of local news in 2022.

While some critics saw the emergence of the streaming model as an opportunity for more partisan news outlets, a number of major networks are embracing it. MSNBC and CNN are already offering regular nightly news programs.
