The media is changing. Today, news is delivered through social media and a variety of other digital media. This includes the Internet, print media, and TV. Social media has also changed how people read and digest information. A recent study by Pew Research found that people now consume news differently than they did in the past.
Traditionally, news was broadcast by newspapers. It was difficult to get a live broadcast because the printed news was either mailed in by a reporter or brought into the newsroom. Later, the news was typed, transmitted over wire services, and manually set in type. The term “breaking news” has become cliched, as commercial broadcasting cable news services are available twenty-four hours a day through live communications satellites. In addition, breaking news is now available through mobiles and radio devices.
In the past, a model for news making explained the way news is made and its impact on the community. This model took into account how stories are selected for their power and impact on readers. For example, news stories may focus on scandal, violence, and local, timely content. In today’s media, the boundaries between newsroom and business office have been blurred.
Increasingly, modern-day news is generated through the Internet. Whether it is breaking news or local information, the Internet is a good place to get the latest news. The Internet offers millions of articles and other media content from major news sources, along with radio and television transcripts. It also provides daily updates from leading news sites. News360 is another excellent source for global and local stories. Alltop is another popular news site. It aggregates content from different websites and curates it in real time.
