Trending is a feature on Current News that talks about news stories and events that are being talked about or ‘trending’ on social media.
Breaking news is urgent news that warrants an immediate interruption of non-news programming (or occasionally, regularly scheduled network newscasts). Breaking news usually begins with a newsflash or alert crawl in the lower thirds of the screen, and may be accompanied by a distinctive audio cue on the station’s feed to affiliates, telling them to stand by.
