After a brief pursuit, police in Ohio successfully reunited a missing pet pig — named Hamlet — with his human family.
Current News is a term for breaking news that requires the interruption of regular programming. It is also known as a “Newsflash” or “Special Report”. During these reports, the station’s lower thirds and music cues are often altered to convey a sense of urgency. Before the advent of 24-hour news networks, programs were interrupted for severe weather or extremely urgent news events such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, requiring several stations to simultaneously interrupt their respective programming. Since then, many stations have added a special ticker graphic to their regularly scheduled newscasts that breaks news stories. This can lessen the need for cut-ins during non-news broadcasts.
