Streaming news has become a staple of the digital era. Streaming news has proven to be more engaging to the mass audience. Streaming allows viewers to customize their news experience and view it whenever and wherever they want.
News channels, including CNN, Fox, and MSNBC, have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on streaming operations. This allows the networks to archive content and to serve a mass audience. They are now repurposing programming from the broadcast network and offering documentaries, news analysis, and reruns.
Some local stations offer breaking news coverage. This means that newscasts will be interrupted during prime time to cover breaking news. This may be an overnight newscast or a local newscast that begins later in the day.
In other instances, coverage may be passed to a reporter at the location of the breaking event. The reporter may share more information with the viewer as the event continues. The reporter may then pass the information to the network for broadcast or may notify all network affiliates. The network then returns to previous programming when the coverage ends.
