About Trending

Breaking news is a real-time report on important events that are happening or have just happened, typically including information that can significantly impact the public. Unlike regular news reporting that may allow time for thorough research and fact-checking, breaking news prioritizes urgency and immediacy, often interrupting scheduled programming to inform audiences of developments as they occur. This type of reporting can require journalists to gather and report on information quickly, relying on sources such as eyewitness accounts, official statements, and social media. Explore the challenges that arise when journalists report on breaking news, as well as the ethical considerations involved.
