When you see the spectacular decorations of this suburban Chicago house, you wouldn’t believe 11-year-old Gavin Sciackitano was the one who did all of the wiring, programming, and even the welding. It wasn’t just for his love of Halloween, but also for the love of his dad. After his father, who went all out for the holiday, passed away from an eight-year battle with cancer, Gavin turned to decorating his house as a tribute to his dad.

The AAEM recently formed a new regional chapter in Virginia and Maryland. It has also partnered with the American Medical Association to form an EM Pain and Procedural Committee. It is also partnering with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. These are just a few examples of how the Academy is actively involved in the emergency medicine field.
In addition to their work as vice chancellor of diversity at SIUE, Jessica Harris received a Humanitarian Award from the Change Create Transform Foundation. She also was recognized as a St. Louis Business Journal Champion of Diversity and Inclusion. A recent death in the United States has also been a cause for celebration for the university.
