While television has dominated the television landscape for decades, the future of Current News may be streaming. This new media platform will help news organizations and stations archive and deliver news and commentary to viewers wherever they may be. As cable and satellite TV services continue to shrink, the role of traditional news outlets may be fading. In fact, only one in five Americans are still watching traditional cable news. Moreover, the average American now subscribes to at least one streaming service.

Despite this setback, major news networks continue to have high hopes for streaming. For example, Fox has a streaming app that draws 1.5 million subscribers, while NBC News Now says it delivers 31 million hours of content a month. Despite the pitfalls of streaming, the network is still investing hundreds of millions of dollars in its operation. But how do they make it work? As the media industry changes, how can news organizations keep up with it?

A business guru said: “The speed at which consumers adopted cable television and their pent-up demand for alternative news sources was the key.” This is because consumers became frustrated by the low-quality and expensive products and provided kindling for the innovators. However, in the end, the cable news industry blew past the competition and succeeded in bringing its customers an entirely new level of content and service. In this way, it is likely to become the news-service of the future.
