Trending is a segment of the CBS Morning Show that looks at stories in the news that are drawing attention. It is a popular way to get an overview of what’s happening in the world. If a story is especially significant, it may interrupt non-news programming, or even a network newscast. When this happens, the network will notify all of its affiliates to stand by and pause the newscast. Then it will begin a countdown sequence to allow affiliates to switch over to the network feed.
