Russia now controls the mining town of Soledar in the Donetsk region, Moscow’s defense ministry said Friday, though Ukrainian officials denied that the town had fallen. NBC News has not verified the claims of either side.

Streaming news has changed the way we consume information. With streaming, viewers can watch news wherever and whenever they want. As more consumers have come to expect live streaming, news networks have started to realize that there is a significant opportunity to serve a broader audience.
Historically, broadcast news has been a successful business. While cable news has been a much more popular option, it hasn’t completely replaced broadcast. It has simply one-upped the broadcast model. However, in recent years, the streaming audience has taken a more prominent role in shaping news.
The largest and most well-known streaming networks, such as CBS, ABC, Fox, and CNN, all offer regular nightly news programs. They also offer reruns, documentaries, and news analysis. Some, like CNN, also offer live streams.
Unlike cable, these networks repurpose existing programming for the stream. This means that the format of the broadcast and the look of the stream are fairly similar. These networks offer a variety of programming options, and they typically offer the most current news.
After the coverage begins, the network will pause to allow its affiliates to join the feed. At this point, the anchor will remind viewers that more details will be available on their local station.
When the coverage ends, the network may revert to its previous programming or switch to a breaking news program. For example, in April 2017, the ABC network was forced to revert to a break when the Shayrat missile strike occurred.
