Streaming news has changed the way we receive information. It provides a customized experience and timely delivery, and reduces the scarcity of media in the news equation. It also allows networks to archive content, and makes it accessible on demand, wherever the viewer is.

Traditionally, broadcast news has been a profitable business. However, it is not surprising that cable TV and new streaming services are reshaping the way we receive news. The streaming networks repurpose programming from cable and broadcast and offer news analysis and documentaries.

There are three primary types of news reports: live, special, and breaking. Each has a different format. The live report typically lasts only a few minutes and is relayed from a news anchor or reporter at the location of the breaking event.

Breaking news can also refer to events that occur in the past. For example, the September 11 attacks occurred between September 11 and 15 in 2001. However, breaking news can refer to any event that is of a great interest to the audience.

During breaking news coverage, a live shot of an anchor or reporter will interrupt the main program. The anchor will then remind viewers that more information will be found on their local news.

The network may then revert to its main program. If the coverage is not over, the network may continue to show the live shot of the anchor. If the coverage continues, the network may pause to allow other network affiliates to join the feed.
