Trending is a feature on Current News that talks about what’s going on in the world.
Breaking News is news coverage of a current event, usually in the form of live reports from news anchors or reporters. When breaking news events occur, a network will alert its affiliates and ask them to stand by for an interruption in regular non-news programming or, in the case of the national networks, regularly scheduled newscasts. Stations often change their lower third graphics and other on-air branding to indicate an interrupting report. Breaking news is more common on 24-hour cable and satellite channels than it was in the past, when such interruptions were reserved for extremely urgent news, such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963.
