Trending is a section of Current News that talks about what is currently popular in the world. It includes articles, videos, images and quotes that are a hot topic in the media.

Breaking news is an event that elicits nationwide coverage and requires that many stations interrupt their regular programming to cover it. This usually consists of an alert on-screen graphic, a countdown sequence that allows network affiliates to switch to the national feed for the breaking story, and a report that runs over top of the current non-news broadcast. Prior to the advent of 24-hour news networks, this was often accomplished with cut-ins and special tickers that were inserted during regularly scheduled programs.

CBS News’ Hallie Jackson reports from a remote stretch of New Mexico, where she sheds light on why Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch wasn’t searched sooner. She also talks to a local sheriff who says the FBI should do more to partner with New Mexico.
