If you’re watching TV right now, chances are you’re seeing one of the ten major streaming networks. They’re repurposing cable programming, repackaging it for their streaming audiences, and scheduling nightly news programs. You may be surprised to learn that these news organizations have been around for a decade, and they have high hopes for their streaming business.
Streaming news has proven to be a hit with a wide variety of audiences. It’s also set to reshape how political and news coverage is delivered in the future.
In the past, news broadcasts on TV have been a lucrative business. But as the number of people watching cable news has dwindled, newscasters have feared that audiences would die off. With streaming, they can reach viewers wherever they are.
As online video streaming has become more prevalent, a new wave of overtly political news operations is expected. Fox News Channel is already in the mix, and the channel has even cultivated a subscriber base for its Fox Nation app.
Despite the fact that the majority of people in America watch TV, only 37 percent consider themselves to be in the loop with current events. Yet a recent poll suggests that half of them think there will be more positive news in 2023.
Streaming news has also helped to break decades of kindling that was tied to linear television. Streaming allows users to choose their own schedules, and they can view the content they want. This means that a network isn’t bound by costly negotiations with cable companies.
