If you’re like most people, your primary source of current news information is probably your television set or the Internet. But there are many other places to get your news. Some of these sources are more local than others.
One website you may not have heard of is Dogo News, an online news site aimed at children. It offers stories from a global perspective. The site also offers podcasts and teaching resources. You can read its blog posts or subscribe to its magazine.
Another news site is SciTechDaily, which provides coverage of astronomy and space news. These stories are written by an array of experts. This is especially useful for kids who are studying astronomy or cosmology.
There’s also First News Live, a free weekly news broadcast. The site includes polls and explainers on current issues.
In addition, News for Kids, a US-based site, offers daily roundups of current news for children. It also includes explanations of unfamiliar terms and stories about the world.
In addition to these, you may want to check out the BBC Newsround for daily stories on national and international news. Or, watch The Week Junior Show, a program that discusses the week’s major stories in a kid-friendly way.
Another source is the National Literacy Trust. They have discussion cards and other educational materials for students to use.
