The current news is that Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is gearing up for a big opening ceremony on Jan 3. This is just the latest of many exciting events to occur in the coming months. SIUE’s first semester in 2022 will be a fun one to watch.
One of the highlights is a special collection of historical research from the Douglas and Betty Noverr Collection of Walt Whitman’s journalism. Additionally, the aforementioned cliches were put to good use as the university hosted a plethora of alumni and friends for Homecoming festivities.
A new atrium was also renovated in the Engineering Building. This was made possible by a generous donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation.
While there were plenty of other worthy acomplishments to be had, the one that caught our attention was the announcement of a new AAEM Pain and Procedural Committee. In conjunction with the American Board of Medical Specialties, AAEM has issued a letter of support for the newly formed committee.
Similarly, the AAEM is not the only organization in the higher education community that is supporting private equity firms. On the legislative front, AAEM is on record as opposed to Louisiana’s HB 495.
Other notables include the signing of the first federally funded university loan forgiveness program and the inclusion of a new “fee free” college in the state of Illinois. Another major highlight was the completion of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation atrium, a multimillion dollar undertaking.
