The work of university faculty is often overlooked, but it’s one of the most important aspects of the student experience. This is because many of these individuals are the ones who get to meet their students in person, and it’s these face to face interactions that create lasting relationships.

One of the best ways to show your appreciation to the people that make you and your campus thrive is to participate in the annual Homecoming and Winter Break festivities. These events are open to the community and are designed to encourage alumni and friends to visit the campus. SIUE will have two events to mark the occasion, an in-person ceremony and a virtual event.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for December 23 at the Morris University Center’s International Room. The event will kick off the winter break, and the University will re-open on January 3.

In addition to the opening ceremony, the Enterprise Holdings Foundation made a generous donation to renovate the atrium in the Engineering Building. The donation came in the form of a $1.5 million grant. Another exciting development was the announcement that SIUE’s Educational Leadership program had selected ten students to participate in the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program.

During the week of Homecoming, the SIUE community took a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of a few notable individuals. They honored a noted Whitman scholar, Douglas Noverr. Also, the school received a special collection of historical research.
