When a major news story occurs, Current News may interrupt regular programming (or, in the case of network affiliates with a live newscast, will notify viewers to stand by for a cut-in). The break begins with a newsflash graphic or alert crawl, overlaid on top of the hour and/or lower third graphics. The newsflash is usually accompanied by a distinctively-cued music sequence.
