Trending is a weekly feature that talks about the top news stories on Current News. Usually, the trending topics will have the most clicks and views on our site.
Breaking news is an event that warrants a sudden interruption of regular non-news programming (or, in some cases, a regularly scheduled newscast). Often, breaking events require nationwide coverage and will cause many stations to interrupt their broadcast. Prior to the existence of 24-hour news networks, breaking-news breaks were limited to very urgent situations that would require multiple stations to stop their normal programming at the same time. Normally, the station will issue a special ticker or lower third to alert viewers that they are being interrupted for a special report.
