Trending is a feature that talks about what news and topics are getting the most attention. Often, this is a result of social media activity. Unlike the Trending on Facebook, this does not take into account actual traffic to articles or other factors, but instead simply shows what news is currently being talked about. Breaking news is an urgent report about a current event that requires an interruption of regular, non-news programming (or, in the case of 24-hour news channels, regularly scheduled newscasts). Prior to the advent of 24-hour network news, such interruptive coverage was generally reserved for events of extreme importance, such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
