For the last nine years, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has been recognized with INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award. This award recognizes a variety of achievements. The coveted award is only given to universities and colleges that have demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

During Homecoming week, the school held a number of events that caught the attention of both students and alumni. One of the more notable events was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated atrium in the Engineering Building. Additionally, the school hosted a late-night breakfast for students to kick off the semester.

Another impressive event is the launch of a new website, which will serve as the primary source of information for the university’s more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, the university has also announced its plans for the 2022 year. Some of these include a student led campaign to raise funds for the new Learning Resource Center, which will be located in the east St. Louis area.

It also should come as no surprise that the School of Engineering joined with the Enterprise Holdings Foundation for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The building’s atrium was completely redone with a donation of $1.5 million.

On the same token, the university is kicking off 2022 with a slew of festivities. A celebration luncheon will feature a keynote speaker and a musical performance, as well as a host of other exciting events.
