The arrival of streaming news sets the stage for an era of ubiquity and customization. This technology makes current news available at the touch of a button and it travels wherever the viewer goes.
Historically, broadcast and cable news has been a profitable business. However, the advent of online video streaming is likely to reshape the way we consume political news. Streaming also eliminates the cost of negotiating with cable companies. It may also allow overtly political news operations to enter the fray.
There are several major streaming networks in the United States, each of which schedule regular nightly news programs. Each one offers news analysis, documentaries, and reruns.
Some of the top streaming networks are: CBS News, ABC, NBC, and Fox. These companies have invested hundreds of millions of dollars into their streaming operations.
Streaming news has proven to be a success for its users. It allows viewers to customize their experience by choosing which stories they want to see and how they want to see them.
It has also been a boon for niche audiences. Several streams feature stories and videos that are more relevant to younger viewers. For example, BBC What’s New includes stories about children in Africa doing remarkable things.
Another notable site is Space Scoop, which aims to educate children aged eight and up about astronomy. The site features podcasts, as well as stories from international astronomy organizations.
Another newsy piece of equipment is the News Literacy Network, which tweets news stories for school-age children. Other notable streaming news sites include Twig Science Reporter, which includes teaching resources.
