A house fire in northeastern Pennsylvania has killed 10 people, including three children. A volunteer firefighter arriving on the scene discovered many were his family members.

Chancellor James T. Minor will oversee the commencement ceremonies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on May 6-7. The events are the largest of its kind in one place. Approximately 2,356 eligible graduates will receive their degrees, from the College of Arts and Sciences to the School of Engineering. During the ceremonies, CAS student Josie Pauley, who earned a bachelor’s degree in applied communication studies, addressed graduates. “Our generation will need to know that we need to live in the moment, so we need to live in the present, and enjoy every moment.”
