Current News is a way of conveying information about the world. This information can influence people’s behaviors and choices. News is often categorized according to its source, medium, and audience. For example, the BBC creates a hundred and forty-five hours of news output every day. They employ approximately 3,500 people, and their headquarters are located in London, United Kingdom.
News is provided in many forms, including newspapers, radio, television, and internet. Sometimes, it is referred to as “hard news” to distinguish it from “soft news”. The focus of news can be global or local, and it may also cover celebrity news, sports, and regional affairs. In the United States, the television news channels are the most widely used.
In the United Kingdom, the government agency Ofcom imposes strict rules regarding bias, which are referred to as “objectivity standards”. Newspapers and news broadcasts are expected to be unbiased, except for editorial articles that are clearly identified as presenting a specific point of view. It is also expected that journalists and news organizations be neutral when reporting on controversial issues, such as war or peace.
The Bentley University library provides guides and resources to access current news. Some of these publications are published in print, and can be found using Bentley Library’s current news guide.
