The news industry has seen a decline since the end of the twentieth century, when United Press International (UPI) was a global news agency. Its market value plummeted in the 1980s, and it was eventually sold off for low prices. Now, United Press International (UPI) is owned by News World Communications, a company owned by the Unification Church.
Media outlets are more likely to give coverage to stories that have a high impact. These stories may have a violent or scandalous aspect to them. Readers are more likely to relate to stories if they are local or relevant to their own lives. Similarly, a timely event will be given more coverage. This is one of the many factors that determine the impact of news.
Common news topics include government, war, government, education, health, entertainment, and espionage. Some news outlets also include quirky events and oddities. In ancient times, news was only available in print. Today, the world is connected through commercial broadcasting cable news services. These cable news services are available twenty-four hours a day using satellite technology. Mobile users can access breaking news almost instantly.
