Trending is a section of Current News that talks about what is currently popular on social media platforms. This section is updated regularly as new trends emerge.

Breaking news is a term used to refer to urgent events that necessitate the interruption of non-news programming, or, in the case of a national network broadcast, the pause of the live newscast in order for affiliate stations to switch to the network feed and begin reporting the event. The interruption may last only a few minutes, or could go on for hours or even days. The onset of breaking news typically begins with a newsflash or Special Report graphic, and often includes a distinctive music cue to identify the event at hand.
