The Internet has spawned a new way to consume news. It’s called streaming. Streaming allows viewers to watch TV news wherever they are. They can customize their experience to meet their unique needs.

Streaming news has proven successful. Several major news networks have made it a priority. Some have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in streaming operations.

CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News are among the most popular outlets. All three earned combined profits of $3 billion in 2020.

Streaming news is likely to reshape political and news coverage. For example, One America News, a new online outlet, is expected to capture an audience. Other online news outlets will compete with traditional broadcast news channels.

Free news streamers have been promising cable-quality news. This is essentially a way for them to tell their viewers that they can cut the cord. Those who are commercial averse may opt to pay for cable news instead.

Streaming has also created opportunities for new players. CBS, for example, has entered the news-streaming business. In 2022, the network plans to deliver 45,000 hours of local news content.

In addition to its regular nightly news programs, the major news networks offer documentaries and news analysis. Among them are CNN+, which features four-and-a-half minute ad blocks. Another popular outlet is PR Newswire, a multichannel content distribution network.

Streaming has proven effective in attracting viewers from all walks of life. A recent survey found that 85 percent of households subscribe to at least one streaming service. These subscribers spent more time watching streaming content than they did watching broadcast television.
