Many news organizations are struggling with vanishing audiences. For instance, Fox News Channel is losing $20 per subscriber each year, while NBC is losing twenty-two percent of its audience. The decline of traditional cable television has had a negative impact on newscasts. Despite the decline of traditional television viewing, over 85 percent of U.S. households subscribe to a streaming news service. Streaming news can be delivered anywhere in the world.

Streaming makes building a news library economical, and enables networks to archive content. Streaming makes news accessible from anywhere, and video news is ubiquitous. A quick search for the word “cable” will turn up many news services. There are more options than ever for watching the news. And with the help of streaming news, you can enjoy the news from your favorite network on any device, including your mobile phone. With so many options available, the future of video news is bright.

In addition to streaming news, the major news networks have been investing millions of dollars to launch new streaming operations. Fox’s streaming app Fox Nation already boasts 1.5 million subscribers. Meanwhile, NBC’s current News Now boasts 31 million hours of content each month. And while streaming news can be beneficial, executives are careful not to overhype the service. Instead, they want to avoid overselling it and focus on producing quality content. There are some downsides to streaming, though.
