Good News: Wrong number leads to unlikely friendship

When Lauren Stevens was assigned a new work phone number at her job in the San Francisco Bay Area, she kept getting texts for someone named “Verndawg.” But when she researched the number, she discovered “Verndawg” was really Wernher Krutein, a renowned photographer who spent more than 60 years traveling the world with his camera. Now their unlikely friendship is changing both of their lives. NBC News’ Hallie Jackson has the story.

Current News is a network-based breaking news story, often accompanied by a graphic and distinctive music cue, which interrupts regular non-news programming on television and radio. Breaking news is typically a major event or series of events that require immediate, nationwide coverage. In North America, until the 1990s, networks primarily interrupted regular programming to cover severe weather events that could cause widespread harm or danger. In addition to a news flash, some breaking stories may be highlighted with lower thirds or alert crawls during regularly scheduled programming, lessening the need for full interruptions and replacing standard station imaging and program reminders.

CBS News braves the strait to bring viewers an up-close look at Iranian cargo ships and warships. Plus, Hallie Jackson visits a remote stretch of New Mexico to shed light on questions over why Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch wasn’t searched sooner.

And, how the fashion house of Louis Vuitton is transforming with its artistic director. Nicolas Ghesquiere tells “Sunday Morning” how he sees the future of his company, which is now the world’s largest luxury brand. Plus, why do comment sections on any story — even an essay about love and happiness — so quickly turn into toxic dumps of vitriol?
