The Bentley Library’s guide to Current News is a useful tool to research the news in an easy manner. While the library’s online databases include many online publications, some of these are also available in print format. If you’re looking for a particular publication, please use the library’s search feature to find it. These publications cover a wide range of topics, from world events to the latest trends and controversies. To help you locate these publications, the Library has developed a guide for reporters.
Business Source Complete has coverage of over 100 business journals and newspapers. The database contains coverage of major metropolitan and rural U.S. areas. Business Source Complete also receives international television programming in different languages, making it especially useful for linguists and international business travelers. This website also offers individual network evening news broadcasts from major U.S. national broadcast networks. It’s possible to browse the archives of both broadcast and print newspapers to get the latest news about a particular subject.
A news report can last a few minutes or several hours, though the longest continuous news events can last for days. For example, the John F. Kennedy assassination was broadcast on television for two days, and the September 11 attacks were broadcast over the course of three days. A network may also integrate analysis of the story during the coverage, using studio staff and analysts located anywhere in the world. During sustained coverage, regular commercial advertising is suspended.
