Half Moon Bay shooting suspect faces seven murder charges

California prosecutors filed seven murder charges against the suspect in the Half Moon Bay shooting. 66-year-old Chunli Zhao was appointed two private defenders who asked for extra time to review the details of the case, pushing the trial into February. NBC’s Niala Charles reports.

The new Enterprise Holdings Foundation atrium in the Engineering Building is a spiffed up affair thanks to a $1.5 million donation. In addition, a ceremonial ribbon cutting took place.

The university has also kicked off its 2022 Homecoming festivities. This included a late night breakfast for students. A special collection of historical research is now available on campus. Several alumni and friends visited campus and celebrated the occasion.

The university is also celebrating Native Heritage Month. SIUE will host a virtual and in person event for the community. Among other things, a baby diaper giveaway will take place at the Learning Resource Center.

The SIUE School of Engineering will take part in the ribbon cutting. This is the school’s first formal collaboration with Enterprise Holdings. It’s a win-win situation for all. The students and faculty at the LC will enjoy a plethora of educational opportunities while the foundation will reap the benefits of its philanthropic efforts.

There’s also the fact that the LC was recently updated with a new website. The new site boasts an enticing gallery of images and videos of the school’s past and present. Those interested in taking a peek inside the doors can stop by the LC and check out its offerings.

Another exciting development is the announcement of a new academic marketing expert. Vicki Van Tuyle is an associate professor in the School of Educational Leadership. She’s an enthusiastic advocate of a multi-disciplinary approach to student success.
