Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has kicked off its 2022 Homecoming festivities. The school will be hosting an in-person and virtual celebration to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This event will include a musical performance and keynote speaker. It will be hosted by the Inclusive Excellence, Education and Development Hub, in the Morris University Center’s Meridian Ballroom on the Edwardsville campus.
SIUE’s Educational Leadership program has selected ten students to participate in the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program. ISLPP is a state-wide leadership pipeline program that aims to develop leaders of high-quality schools in Illinois.
Several university faculty have been recognized by the American College Personnel Association for their outstanding contributions to student affairs and higher education. These awards are designed to recognize colleges and universities for their commitment to student development.
As part of its Homecoming celebration, the school welcomed alumni and friends to the campus. A special collection of historical research was also presented. There were several other activities during Homecoming, including a late-night breakfast with Chancellor James T. Minor.
In addition to the Celebration Luncheon, the university will host a series of events leading up to its opening on Jan. 3, 2020.
During its fall Digital Humanities Student Showcase, students demonstrated their innovative work using digital tools. Five of the entries used nostalgia to engage their audiences.
SIUE’s upcoming Winter Break will begin on December 23 and end on January 2. Throughout this period, the community is invited to join the school in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther Kings.
