The housing market is seemingly cooling as inflation and higher interest rates impact homebuyers. Homes are increasingly selling at a slower pace, down to 21 percent since January, according to the National Association of Realtors. Mortgage applications also just hit their lowest point since 2000. Despite more homebuyers backing out, the median home price hit another high last month at $416,000.

Breaking news is a useful term to describe news stories that are significant to the world at the time they were published. These stories often garner wide interest from viewers. Broadcasts often integrate the analysis of a news story into their regular news programming. During the John F. Kennedy assassination and the September 11 attacks, for example, a broadcast network’s feeds would switch to a reverse countdown. The countdown typically begins at 5 seconds, but may be shorter depending on the network. The same goes for local television stations. In rare cases, a news program will be interrupted by a breaking story.
A newscast may begin by introducing an anchor. Depending on the coverage, the network or local station may continue the live shot of the anchor as they report.
