Rescue teams are searching for survivors in some of Florida’s hardest hit areas. The Coast Guard, Florida National Guard, and local agencies have teamed up to save more than 2,000 people and 150 pets so far. Crews are restoring power to half a million people, but more than 700,000 people still remain without it. Ian’s death toll now stands at 87, but is expected to rise.

The Bentley Library has several database subscriptions that contain news and articles. You can also conduct a Google search to look for specific publications. These databases also include international news and newspaper publications. They may not cover every publication, but they should give you an idea of what is covered by different news outlets. In some cases, it may be helpful to visit specific publications’ websites.
The University of Southern Illinois Edwardsville recently hosted the Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run. The event took place on Saturday, Sept. 24, and honored alumni and friends of the university. Laila Landreth, a 2019 business administration graduate from Copenhagen, Denmark, participated in the race nearly for the past two years.
The University of Southern Illinois Edwardsville is working to tackle the critical shortage of forensic scientists. The university is working with the Illinois State Police, the City of Belleville, and Southwestern Illinois College to increase the amount of forensic scientists in the area.
