Whether it is the latest in technology or a good ol’ fashioned well-wishing, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville community is in full swing. It’s homecoming season and that means alumni, parents and friends are in town. The university has kicked off the festivities with a plethora of events, ranging from a late-night breakfast to a virtual one-on-one session with Chancellor James T. Minor.
SIUE’s Educational Leadership program has selected ten students for its ISLPP. The ISLPP stands for the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program.
The ISLPP’s triumvirate of aspiring principals come from large districts, such as Chicago and Peoria, as well as smaller ones, such as a handful of communities that make up the Illinois’ southwest and southern regions.
This past fall, SIUE’s IRIS Center hosted a digital humanities showcase. Among other things, this event featured five winning projects that used nostalgia to educate audiences.
Aside from the aforementioned ISLPP, other notable news at SIUE included the unveiling of a special collection of historical research from the university’s archives. In addition, the school received a congratulatory letter of support from the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), a division of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
There was more. As part of the celebrations, SIUE also kicked off its 2022 Homecoming. From a ceremonial ribbon cutting, to a fun evening for the kids, the homecoming festivities are sure to keep the crowds enthralled through the first semester of the new year.
